How to Look Younger

How to look younger, methods, tips and tricks on how to stay looking young. What to do and not to do to stay looking young.

As we age we look back at ourselves and see a more youthful, vibrant self than when we look at ourselves in a mirror during the present day. Aging is a natural process that we must all go through, but we can look younger than our real age, it just takes a little effort and you have to know some facts on aging. First, lets list what you should stay away from and not do in order to stay looking young:

  • Tanning: Tanning is a big no no. It will fry your skin later on in life. While you're young you look so nice with a tan, but the older you get the more your skin will look and feel like leather. Not only that, but tanning could possibly give you skin cancer or bring it on. If you tanned a lot while you were young chances are your skin is going to dry up easier and it won't accept moisture as easily anymore. Some people claim tanning can actually be good for you. If you choose to tan anyway, work up to a tan slowly and make sure and moisturize your skin before and after laying in a tanning bed or any kind of tanning. Also, you can use spray on tanning or what they call a "fake" tan, which can give you the same look and not harm your delicate skin, which happens to be the largest organ on your body and the one that will begin to show aging the fastest.
  • Sun exposure and burning: You should use a high grade of SPF when out in the sun, especially for extended periods of time. They are now even recommending daily usage of SPF on your face, even if you will only be outside momentarily. Do not let your skin burn. This will damage your skin and cause a faster onset of aging and wrinkles. SPF comes in many different strengths. SPF 15 is recommended for everyday usage for only being out in the sun occasionally throughout the day. SPF 50 and above is recommended for being in the sun for extended periods of time.
  • Stress and fatigue: Nothing in the world will make you age faster than stress and fatigue. If you don't think someone's hair can turn gray or white overnight, you're wrong. Enough stress can and will age you overnight and you may not even notice yourself after a very stress filled week, month or year. Fatigue and not getting enough sleep can speed up the aging process too. Not getting enough sleep makes you look older and wilted. You could have puffy eyes, bags under your eyes and a tired face. So if you're under a lot of stress, try your hardest to somehow relax and be sure to always try to get enough sleep every night, which normally means at least 8 hours of sleep a night.

What you can do to stay looking young or how to look younger:

  • Moisturize!: The importance of moisturization cannot be stressed enough. Moisturize every day or very often. Use moisturizer on your face and neck, these are the two places that age begins to show first and the fastest. You can use lotion on your hands, feet, legs and arms. Hands are also another spot on your body that will show wear and age quickly too. Use a scrub to scrub the dead skin cells off, wash hands off and then apply a moisturizing lotion.
  • Drink water: Water and hydration is very important for the body to moisturize you from the inside out. Make sure you drink plenty of water and other liquids that do not deplete your body, but add to it. If you don't drink enough water, supplement with juice, milk, lemonade or tea. You could drink flavored water if you do not like drinking plain water all the time.
  • Devlop a daily routine of face care: Start a daily routine of facial care. Use SPF in the morning before going out, clean your face at night, and use a moisturizer. Apply anti-wrinkle and anti-aging products either all over your face and neck or in certain spots that begin to show age faster like around the eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Start using anti-wrinkle/anti-aging: It is now recommended to begin using anti-wrinkle and anti-aging products as early as your twenties so that you can stay looking younger longer. Use anti-aging products often or every night if you can remember to or make it a part of your daily routine.
  • Exercise: Exercise keeps your body in good shape and looking and feeling younger. Start out slowly by only working out 10 or 15 minutes a day or every other day then work up to 30 minutes or longer to stay in shape or lose weight. You may want to consult your doctor before beginning any kind of exercise routine.
  • Eat healthy foods: Eat healthier foods like fruit, vegetables, nuts, beans, yogurt, cheese and milk products. Avoid fats and too much cholesterol, sodium and carbs. The healthier you are, the longer you'll look and feel.
  • Dye your hair if you've gone gray: If you hate having grays or a full head of gray hair don't be afraid to dye it back to your normal, more youthful color.
  • Use natural products: Use more natural products, especially on your face. Many products now have harsh chemicals that are applied to your face or absorbed in your body, which cannot be good for you. It is common sense that something more natural should be used on your face and body to help you stay looking young.
  • Relaxation techniques: Relax and let your body rest. Stress and not getting enough sleep can make you feel like you're 100 years old, when you're only 25. Do relaxing things like getting a massage, doing yoga or meditation or just giving yourself quiet time away from everything. Take some time to relax as often as you can.
  • Have more sex: It's been shown in studies that having sex often makes one feel and appear to look younger.
